A warm ocean current brings as much as around 5 m. of annual precipitation to the mountainous area of the Kii Peninsula and creates the wettest, densest forest in the subtropics. There are temples and shrines here and there along forest routes where you can feel the beautiful tranquility and solace of the harmony between nature and culture.

These deities are a syncretization of Buddhist and Shinto gods that accept everyone, both male and female, regardless of status or class. The sacred ground is a place for prayers of reawakening that has been sustained by the strong faith of people since long ago.
